Studio Headshot vs Environmental Headshot

Wikipedia defines an Environmental Headshot as “a portrait executed in the subject’s usual environment, such as in their home or workplace, and typically illuminates the subject’s life and surroundings.” Essentially an environmental headshot is used to tell a story, a more detailed account of the professional, in their working environment. A contractor at a construction site, surrounded by cranes, and debris; a dentist photographed standing beside an examination chair in his office, an architect captured standing in the halls of the building that she designed - all of these are prime example of placing a working professional in their environment with the purpose of painting a broader picture of who that person really is. As a portrait photographer, it is my purpose to use the skills and tools that I have acquired to capture images and to share your story.

With so many industries in Panama City, FL and in the greater Gulf Coast region, an environmental headshot might be perfect for you! There are many times, however, where a simple studio-style headshot is needed or works best. A studio headshot can be captured anywhere from a small office or conference room in your office to a big professional portrait studio. With a simple portable backdrop, studio-style headshots can be made with flashes and lights, or with simple, natural, daylight. The key for a more studio like approach is a simple, solid, and clean background.
